Titiro by Cleanstone Whakairo is a unique piece of art, wall hanging or home decor.  A masterful blend of sustainability, artistry, and innovation. Crafted from 100% recycled materials, including fishing nets and soft plastics, this premium piece is made using Forest Cleanstone, a unique material with stunning green hues, orange flecks, and a subtle iridescence. 

Carved by Te Ara Hihiko, it represents a fusion of traditional Māori whakairo and cutting-edge craftsmanship.

Meet the Collaborators

  • Critical Design: The innovators behind Cleanstone, a material crafted from recycled waste that’s as beautiful as it is sustainable. They bring new possibilities to material design with a focus on reducing environmental impact.

  • Te Ara Hihiko (Jacob Scott): An esteemed architect, artist, and carver whose works blend Māori tradition with modern innovation. Jacob’s expertise in design ensures each piece resonates with cultural depth and artistry. Learn more about his practice here.

  • Te Ara Hihiko (Jason Kendrick): began his career as a furniture maker, acquiring knowledge and expertise in England before directing his work towards the superyacht and marine industry. Gaining hands-on experience in commercial interior design, his journey led him to establish a CNC machining business, serving marine, architectural, design, and arts sectors. With a flair for project management and product development, Jason steers the waka to create innovative solutions using precision technology.

     



  • Konei (Manawa Udy): Founder of Konei and advocate for sustainable, locally made products that celebrate Māori and Pacific culture. Manawa is passionate about connecting creators, innovators, and their communities through meaningful collaborations.
