Konei had the amazing opportunity to hold a 6x3 stall at Te Matatini Marketplace. The experience at Te Matatini was truly incredible, and we were fortunate to collaborate with our brands to showcase our mahi to Aotearoa. For Māori businesses, both big and small, it was the place to be. Our whānau, from all over Aotearoa, united to show support for pākihi māori. Reaffirming their status as the most appreciative customers of our businesses and products.
Success!
Due to the limited space, we only had the capacity to showcase 6 of our brands. However, it turned out to be a great success in terms of sales and exposure for both Konei and our brands. We hit a Konei record during the week by making the most sales ever in one day. Once again, the brands' products and Konei’s overall kaupapa received a tremendous outpouring of love and appreciation from customers.

We really wanted to make the most of this opportunity as Te Matatini only occurs every 2 years. As well as having a stall to sell products, we also had Manawa recording podcasts with fellow Pākihi Māori owners - listen here!

We also ran an interactive giveaway every day of Matatini. Where whānau were able to spin our spinny wheel to get a free prize in exchange for an email. This was a fun way to get emails and interact with our whānau and customers. If you are looking for a way to bring exposure to your brand or a way to interact with your customers, this is an easy way to get the crowd going.
Overall, our stall at Te Matatini was a great investment. Our goal was not to necessarily make money, but to bring exposure to our kaupapa and our amazing brands. From running podcasts and an interactive giveaway at our stall, we have certainly achieved our goal of generating exposure for Konei and our brands. Te Matatini showed us and our brands that these opportunities are beneficial. Keep an eye out for what we have in store and seize the opportunity to jump on board!
